The Argentinean Army bought two batches of Bell OH-13H Sioux from the USAF. The first batch of four Bell OH-13H-BF, the military version of the 47G-2, was received in September 1972 and in 1975 a couple of Bell TH-13T-BF, the military version of the 47G-3B2, the instrument flying version were received. By 1980 all of them would have been withdrawn from usage by the Sección Aviación Ejército.

At the end of March 1981 four of those helicopters were transferred to the Policía Federal Argentina (PFA) with a stock of spare parts. Those would be a couple of Bell TH-13T-BF (AE-391 and AE-392) and another couple of Bell OH-13H-BF (AE-396 and AE-397). The idea was to use these helicopters for aerial observation and training purposes but, for a number of technical reasons, they were never put in service. In the end, in June 1983 they were sent back to the Argentinean Army where they were sent to the Escuela de los Servicios para Apoyo de Combate General Lemos to be used as training material. One of them, AE-396 (C/N 1660), is stored at the Museo de Aviación de Ejército Argentino.
