The aircraft used in the 50s by the Policía Federal Argentina operated mostly from the Aeropuerto Internacional Bernardino Rivadavia and occasionally from the Aeroparque of the city of Buenos Aires. But by 1970 this situation was not sustainable and the institution began to look for a suitable operational base. Initially the Escuela Federal de Policía Cnl Ramón Lorenzo Falcon was thought to be a good candidate since it provided the required space but an analisis of the buildings likely to exist in the neighborhood precluded this idea. Finally, by Decreto Nº 747/72 dated February 10, 1972 the terrains belonging to the Ministerio de Obras y Servicios Públicos de la Nación located at Isla Demarchi were transferred to the Policía Federal Argentina.
This was to become the center of all the administrative aspects of the Cuerpo Federal de Aviación (CFA) and where the helicopter operations in Buenos Aires were to be conducted. The facilities include a section of firemen named Cuartel "Isla Demarchi", full lighting, HF and VHF radios, emergency power generation, 2,400 m2 of hangars, all of the maintenance facilities for the helicopters, the Escuela Federal de Aviación Policial and a small museum. Also, the single Cicaré SVH-3 of the force operates in this facility for helicopter basic training.
