The Prefectura Naval Argentina (PNA) uses a set of ships and boats to perform its other duties; mainly training, salvage, navigational aids maintenance and hidrographic and marine biology scientifc research.
For example, belonging to the Prefectura Zona del Delta is a unit of pontons (11.00 x 5.00 meters) of which two serials are known (DF-16 and DF-17).

Notes: Was bought in Sept/1991 to replace Lago Lacar. Used to be named
Río Limay. Former general cargo ship transformed with a helicopter
platform forward and a 20-bed hospital facility. It has 1 x 50 tons,
6 x 10 tons and 5 x 5 tons cranes. Hull has been reinforced to
navigate in the Antartic ices. It has been painted mostly red and
white for Antartic operations.
