The Centro de Extensión Profesional Aeronaútica (CEPA) was created on 26 April 1989 and is based at B.A. San Fernando.
The missions of this unit are the formation and training of the flying and technical specialists of the Servicio de Aviación (SEAV).
Currently the aircraft in use are the Schweizer 300 and Piper PA-28-181 Archer III.
The pilot candidates fly some 110 hours on the Piper PA-28-181 Archer III, and the pilots chosen to fly helicopters are then sent to train on the Schweizer 300. Then the candidates spend between six to eight months flying some 50 to 70 hours in order to get their helicopter wings. After graduation they are normally sent to fly as copilots of the Eurocopter AS-365N Dauphin.
