Nord 1203 Norécrin LV-FEJ at Comandante Espora, Bahía Blanca, in 1999. (Skyhawk)

Nord 1203 Norécrin LV-FEJ. (Juan Carlos Cicalesi)

Four Nord 1203 Norécrin, LQ-FDI (C/N 277), LQ-FDP (C/N 281), LQ-FDU (C/N 282), LQ-FED (C/N 287), were purchased, brand new, for service with the Prefectura Naval Argentina (PNA) in 1957 and served until 1963. Another report indicates that these aircraft were actually three and bought in 1954, serving until 1961. Can this be denied/confirmed? They were based at B.A. Don Torcuato, which was a new base in the Buenos Aires area. They used civilian government owned serials and they were used for liaison, light utility and coastal and fluvial surveillance. These aircraft were bought because the Grumman JRF Goose nominally assigned to the Prefectura were in fact being used for all practical purposes by the Argentinean Navy.

Also, one Nord 1203 Norécrin, LV-FEJ (C/N 289), is actually undergoing restauration at the Museo de la Aviación Naval de la Armada Argentina (http://www.muan.com.ar/) where it can be seen. This aircraft is not a former Prefectura example but an identical model belonging to a civilian that after being damaged in an accident was given to the museum for its preservation. Last but not least, this particular aircraft has been reported as a Nord 1101 or as a Nord N.1203-II Norécrin II. Can this be denied/confirmed?
