Some five Shorts CS-7 Skyvan, PA-50, (C/N SH.1887), PA-51, (C/N SH.1888), PA-52, (C/N SH.1889), PA-53, (C/N SH.1890), PA-54, (C/N SH.1891), were bought for the Prefectura Naval Argentina (PNA) in 1971 to be used for the typical logistical and transport role as replacements for a couple of Douglas C-47 Dakota.
Two of them PA-50 and PA-54 participated of the Falklands/Malvinas conflict directly in the islands. They were based at the B.A. Puerto Argentino and flew each 20.8 and 49.2 hours of war missions, which were mostly devoted to logistic transport with some of them being recon. PA-50 would be destroyed during the Squadron 22 "D" of the SAS night raid of May 15, 1982 at Pebble Island (Estación Aeronaval Calderón, Isla de Borbón). PA-54 would be damaged by naval shelling during the last hours of May 3 and early hours of May 4, 1982 and would finally be destroyed on June 13, 1982 by shelling.
The remaining three Shorts CS-7 Skyvan, PA-51, PA-52 and PA-53, were to be sold, into the civilian market to a company named CAE Aviation of Luxemburg, in November 1993, due to the difficulties in finding spares and logistical support for them in the aftermath of the defeat.
A couple of CASA 212-300 Aviocar were bought in 1988 to replace them.
