Cicaré SVH-3

Argentinean Army Cicaré SVH-3 AE-301. (Christian Villada - http://www.saorbats.com.ar/)

Cicaré SVH-3 in use by the Escuela Federal de Aviación Policial. (PFA)

In 1994 Augusto Cicaré designed the revolutionary helicopter trainer and simulator known as the SVH-3, which would become his biggest commercial success and earn him a number awards. The goal of this simulator is to help the pilot student acquire the coordination needed to control this kind of aircraft in a progressive, safe and cheap way, yet realistic enough. For example, it is possible to graduate the sensibility of the commands so that the difficulty can be varied depending on the student.

One of the objectives of the SVH-3 is that a student that has never had contact with the command of a helicopter goes gradual and naturally acquiring the necessary coordination to maneuver this type of aircraft. The SVH-3 allows that, in a first stage, the students learn how to control only a part of the helicopter commands. Overcome this stage, the student learns how to control all the commands of a conventional helicopter. To make this even more complete, it is possible to graduate the sensibility of the commands of the SVH-3, in way of increasing the difficulty in each stage as the student goes getting experience. The sensibility of the commands is modified by varying the air pressure in the tank of the lower structure. As the air pressure decreases, the commands become more sensitive and, therefore, it is more difficult to control the SVH-3. The instructor and the student are continually communicated by radio. This allows the instructor to give the student all the necessary indications to make the learning more effective and also the student can transmit all his doubts to the instructor as he performs different maneuvers.

This helicopter simulator is being used in Argentina by the Policía Federal Argentina (PFA) and by the Ejército Argentino (AE-301 and AE-303).
