Peruvian Army Mi-26 resuplying a field post. (Peruvian Army)

The goal of this web site is to collect in a single place the most relevant, public and synthetic information on the various Latin American military and security organisations.

The focus of this site is on missions, organisational structure, capabilities, training and hardware, both in use or retired.

Chilean Armada Type 148 Teniente Orella. (Chilean Navy}

The site does only include information obtained from public sources and does not publish anything that is not of public knowledge. "Public Knowledge" is defined as published in trade magazines (AirForces Monthly, World Air Power, etc.), specialised books (Jane's All World Aircraft, Flottes de Combat, etc.), official institutional Web sites (Fuerza Aérea Argentina, Ejército Venezolano, etc.) or unofficial, but public, Web sites or forums (The Latin American Aviation Historical Society, SAORBATS, Foros Zona Militar, etc.).

The specific sources of information will be stated in each of the content oriented pages, but the general sources of information are mentioned in the General Bibliography and the various Links to the WWW.

Since this is obviously a somewhat ambitious project the site focuses first on ships, boats and aircraft. After that focus will shift into the other more land oriented hardware and organisations structures.

FAA Finger C402. (Unknown photographer)

The comments and opinions expressed on this web site are obviously only responsibility of the author and are an attempt to express his personal views on the current state of the organisations and equipment discussed. Care has been taken not to fall into nationalistic arguments and other kind of non sequitur which tend to abound each time military subjects are discussed. Also the author's comments and opinions are expressed from a somewhat eurocentric cosmovision and postmodernist western way of thinking. These opinions may be considered controversial at times and the author would like nothing less than to encourage an open discussion around them and to be contradicted in his arguments by better logic, arguments and facts. The author is not currently, nor has ever been, associated with any branch of any latin american military or security organisation.

Considering that this site has just started it only has some information on a few of the aircraft used by some Latin American military organisations and their organisations' history as well as on some of the Navies and their ships.

ARA La Argentina. (Argentinean Navy)

Currently the site is only showing complete information on the Bahamas. By complete information I mean that I was not able to find more public information on that particular country and its military organisations and that all of the information I have has been included in this site. The site also shows incomplete information on Argentina and Honduras. Other countries will follow once the information for Argentina and Honduras is reasonably complete. The next countries are likely to be Paraguay, Chile, Uruguay, Barbados, Bolivia, Falklands (E.U., UK), Ecuador, Jamaica, Perú, Belize, Colombia, Trinidad and Tobago, and Venezuela, in that order.

Obviously, the author would be very happy to receive any comments, corrections and/or additions to the information presented here as well as public information and/or photos on the current or future countries. Of special interest are photos of ships, planes and army equipment, serial number information, manufacturer construction number information, equipment configuration, technical characteristics, order of battle and organisational structure. In the General Bibliography section I have indicated only the books and/or magazines which I personally have in my library. The author always welcomes any new public documents and/or references to books and/or magazines with articles relevant to the Latin American military organisations and their equipments. Thanks in advance for your patronage and book and/or magazine gifts. Unfortunately, the author has collected a lot of photos from a number of different web sites on the Internet without taking the proper care of noting the name of the photographer. I will endeavour to correct that mistake and give the due credit whenever I find that information. Thanks again for your understanding.
